International Exchang × Contribution
for local communities at NWU

The International Strategy Center (Nara Women's University) has a group work course for international and Japanese students. They're all working towards the same goal of giving back to the local community in Nara, where the university is located. In this course, students get hands-on experience by doing field research in Nara Prefecture and Nara City to spot challenges and potential solutions. Then, they plan and propose events, tours, and tourism content based on their findings. We're going to share the results of Nara Women's University's unique approach to international exchange combined with contribution for local communities. It's possible because students from different regions work together on this voluntarily.

We would love to hear your feedback, as it will help us in planning future activities. If there are types of content or events you would like to see in your area, please feel free to share your suggestions with us! Feedback form for creations made by students of Nara Women's University

Asuka Village

The theme of the class for the first semester of 2024 was "Let's promote Asuka Village to people at home and abroad!”

Students created a pamphlet, leaflet, and web content to promote Asuka Village with the help of the Asuka Village Office and the Asuka Tourism Association.

Asuka Village's social media presence is mostly focused on specific seasonal events or certain spots, and since there's not a lot of content in languages other than Japanese, the village isn't as well-known. Even Japanese-language posts are often aimed at older residents or history fans, which has students thinking that there should be more content for younger audiences. So, the students set up new social media accounts. We teamed up with the Asuka Village Office to create these accounts to help out foreign tourists who have a hard time finding info about Asuka Village. They added more content to topics that were missing it. Information is now shared in multiple languages, covering not only famous spots but also facilities where visitors can experience life from that era, restaurants, and souvenir shops. (The "Food, Things, People" team and the "Experience" team were the ones who created and posted this content.)
